Located in the Loire Valley, the city of Angers in the west of France in the Pays de la Loire recently underwent comprehensive modernisation. The focus of this refurbishment was renewal of the lighting alongside the River Maine. The newly designed waterfront is now illuminated by Lif light columns and Olivio system luminaires.
The town council launched the “Cour de Maine” revitalisation project with the goal of turning the city centre into a bustling location. In revitalising the city centre, the goal of the council was to enable citizens to rediscover the river and its waterfront for themselves.
Public lighting continues to play an important role in urban development projects for it needs to be fully integrated into the overall concept. For this reason the architect and lighting planner concerned also placed great emphasis on the choice of luminaires for this project, both in terms of style and functionality.
