The city Moulin is located in the foothills of the Massif Central, on the River Allier. The market square forms the heart of the town and is a testimony to its rich historical heritage, reflecting styles from various eras. T
he church spires of the “Sacre Coeur”, a large well, the market hall and the Grand Café are particularly defining landmarks. The aim of the municipal council was to make the public space more attractive for residents by restructuring the square and the market hall. Shopping amenities and open spaces have been newly created and the various sites i.e. roadways, footpaths, shops needed to be clearly identifiable. The design for the pedestrianized area therefore incorporates Selux Olivio Sistema luminaires.
HID luminaires are used for general lighting while a dynamic effect is created on the footpaths using the RGBW LED version of the Olivio luminaire. Following the restructuring, the square has a much brighter appearance and an unobstructed view has been attained. In the evenings, Olivio RGBW spotlights can be modified to cater for various types of events. Depending on the number of participants and the time, light intensity and colour projections can be used to display a plethora of different scenarios designed to provide a background for bustling life on the market square.
